Stop and smell the roses

Today God really impressed upon me that I am not savoring my spiritual life. I’m still in fast lane mode, even though now I’ve left the highway and I’m riding a bike. I zoom through my quiet time and prayers and check the box, and just because I get a whole devotional in, I think I’m doing better. I read my Bible and answer the BSF questions, and just because I am now DOING a Bible study, I think I’m doing better.

But this week God reminded me that He has given me a precious gift: time. And a large part of that is time to be with Him. I should be savoring His word; meditating on it and letting it settle in my heart and renew my mind. So that is my goal for the rest of this week: to savor God like an M&M melting in my mouth.
